It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a side that has accomplished all there is.

That it took as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a platform to produce her newest gem.

Whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the case for final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this innings was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it has been a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing at all," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature activate and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her great strength - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the right-hander was on her way.

"The possibility to play and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was dismissed her side required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the confidence to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, should it happen, we are confident we can achieve it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup want to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will win from any position has grown stronger - this success succeeding win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have delayed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is likely to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a global event as captain.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
